Baharat Spice Blend

This spice blend has wonderful flavour & is used throughout middle eastern cooking. I took the blend measurements from daringgourmet.com

  • 1 tbsp Black Peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Whole Cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Seeds
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg

Heat a small skillet over medium high heat & dry roast the peppercorns, cumin, coriander seeds, cloves & cardamom seeds for 3-5 minutes until fragrant (toss regularly to prevent scorching)

Allow the spices to cool completely before grinding

You can use a mortar & pestle, a spice or coffee grinder or a blender to grind up all the spices into a powder along with the paprika, cinnamon & nutmeg

Store in an airtight glass jar for 6 months
