Treacle Tart

My last dish didn’t make the cut, I made Zesty BBQ Ribs, but James wasn’t fond of the taste. I thought it was pretty good, but I don’t think I will make it again. This is why I am going to be posting my delicious treacle tart recipe instead

Growing up in England this was a rare treat, but always well received by all who were lucky to be at the dinner table when this came out. I make it like my Mum always made it & love every single bite!

This afternoon, after I started writing this post, I was reading a post by the Kitchen Magpie & thought it was pretty funny to be writing & reading posts on the same topic. These tarts are pretty easy to make, especially if you buy the tart shell instead of make it, but it tastes so much better when you make it yourself

Serves: 8-10

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C/Gas Mark 4

In the pastry add the breadcrumbs & then the golden syrup. The syrup should soak all the breadcrumbs

Twist strips of pastry & lay across the top of the tart so that it makes a cross

Cook in the oven for 30 minutes or until the pastry is golden

Serve hot with cream or ice cream & enjoy!
