Balsamic Glazed Steak Rolls

I have kept putting off this post for almost a month & finally decided to bite the bullet & just write it! I knew that it would take quite a bit of concentration to do, but procrastination is no longer an option, so here it is, another Pinterest wonder

Serves: 8-10 (rolls)

  • 1 – 1 1/2 lb Flank Steak / thinly sliced Sirloin – cut into 3″ wide strips
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Steak Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1 Carrot – julienned
  • 1 Bell Pepper – julienned
  • 1/2 Zucchini – julienned
  • 5-6 Spring Onions – julienned
  • 2 cloves Garlic – peeled & crushed
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2 tsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Shallots – finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Beef Broth

Season the steak generously on both sides with salt & pepper, Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning & olive oil

Refrigerate in marinade for at least 30 minutes

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add the shallot & sauté for a couple of minutes until they turn soft & translucent

Add the balsamic vinegar, brown sugar & beef broth. Stir to mix well

Bring to the boil & reduce the sauce to almost half it’s volume. It will thicken to a syrup like consistency

Remove from the heat, transfer to a bowl & set aside

In the same pan, add a touch of olive oil & toss the garlic cloves in to flavour the oil

Turn the heat to high & stir fry the carrots, peppers & zucchini for 2-3 minutes, season with salt & transfer to a bowl

Assemble the rolls by taking a strip of steak, place some veggies in the middle & roll over the filling securing with a toothpick

Either pan fry or barbeque the steak rolls until you have achieved your desired doneness

Remove the toothpick & spoon some of the glaze over the top
