Chicken Gyros

I had never heard of gyros before now, but coming from the UK where we call them kebabs!

These were so delicious & the flavour of the meat was incredible. My husband is a huge fan of all food Greek, so I used this as a treat for him to say “I Love You”!

  • 1lb Chicken Breast
  • 4 cloves Garlic – minced
  • 1 Lemon – juiced
  • 2 tsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • Tzatziki Sauce
  • 2 Tomatoes – sliced
  • 1/2 Onion – sliced
  • 1/4 Cucumber – sliced
  • Lettuce – shredded
  • 4 Pitas

Whisk together the garlic, lemon juice, vinegar, oil, oregano & 1 tsp salt  in a small bowl & add to a large freezer bag.

Add the chicken pieces & marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour, turning halfway through

Preheat the grill. Sprinkle the chicken with salt & pepper & grill over indirect heat for 8 minutes per side, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 155°F

Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips

Warm your pita bread, top with chicken, tzatziki, tomatoes, cucumber, onions & lettuce
