Gran Lovelock’s Mincemeat

This recipe has been around for years & is so simple & so delicious when made into pies or tarts. Remember not to use too much as it is very rich!

  • 1lb Currants
  • 1lb Sultanas
  • 1lb Raisins
  • 1 1/2lb Apples – peeled & cored
  • 1/2lb Suet – fresh suet is time consuming, but easy to prepare & store (if you ask I can explain how to prepare it)
  • 1lb Soft Brown Sugar
  • Juice 1 Lemon

Using a meat grinder, whether the hand type or an attachment to a mixer, mince together the currants, raisins, sultanas & apples

Mix thoroughly with the remainder of the ingredients

Refrigerate in jars or sealed containers until needed

P.S. It can last for at least 1 year in the refrigerator
