Grandad Lovelock’s Toffee

Grandad would always make this at Christmas & when he died we then started to make it. The one I made is a lighter colour than I would normally make & not as brittle. The darker the colour the more brittle the toffee

  • 3 oz Margarine
  • 5 oz Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk

Put Margarine, sugar & syrup into a saucepan on a low heat. When disolved add the milk & increase to a medium heat

Stir continuously until it is a dark brown colour & sets when a little is put in cold water. This could take 45 minutes to 1 hour

Pour into a greased tin & leave to set
